This woman donated Rs 170 crores in last year, not Nita Ambani

Rohini Nilekani is an Indian author and writer. She has topped the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy Women’s List 2023 with over Rs 170 crore in donations and Rs 120 crore in 2022. 

Rohini Nilekani hails from Mumbai and was a lover of literature. She studied French literature from Elphinstone College and started her career as a journalist. 

Rohini is known for her philanthropic work. She founded the non-profit Arghyam Foundation in 2001 to tackle the issues of water and sanitation. 

Rohini is also the chairperson of the Akshara Foundation which works to bring elementary education to the less fortunate. She also works with the non-profit Pratham Books. 

Rohini is married to Nandan Nilekani, the co-founder and non-executive chairman of Infosys. Infosys was founded in 1981 and has a current market value of Rs 619,000 crore.
