Ambani, Adani & Tata: Who is the highest taxpayer in India?

Mukesh Ambani, Asia's richest businessman, is the owner of Reliance Industries.
 

In the financial year 2023, Reliance Industries paid over Rs 20,713 crore in taxes, making Mukesh Ambani the highest taxpayer in the country.
 

Following Reliance, SBI and HDFC Bank are the second and third largest taxpayers, respectively. In the last financial year, SBI paid Rs 17,649 crore in income tax.
 

HDFC Bank is also ranked as a largest taxpayer. Under the leadership of part-time chairman and independent director Atanu Chakraborty, HDFC Bank paid Rs 15,350 crore in income tax.
 

In FY 2023, TCS paid Rs 14,604 crore in taxes, ranking it as one of the largest taxpayers in the country.
 

ICICI Bank paid Rs 11,793 crore in taxes for the financial year 2023. Sandeep Bakshi became CEO in 2018.
 

Infosys, a key player in the IT sector, paid Rs 9,214 crore in taxes last year. Led by NR Narayana Murthy, the company operates in over 56 countries.
 

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, is not listed among the top 10 taxpayers in the country.
