Hardik-Natasa divorce: Women's legal rights to husband's Property

Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya and model Natasa Stankovic have announced their decision to split and co-parent their son Agastya. 

Divorce is a complicated and emotionally draining process. Women should be aware of their rights and laws on divorce in India. 

If the husband and wife have paid for the property jointly, the wife is entitled to get the husband's share. This will be added to her 50% interest. 

If a wife is abandoned by her husband, she can have half of her husband's share in addition to the 50% interest. The woman can also stay in the property till the divorce is final. 

If a woman gets separated from her husband, she can seek support for herself and her children under Section 125 of the Indian Penal Code. 

The husband has to pay interim maintenance to the wife between the date of filing to the court's ruling. 

Under Section 25 of the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act 1956, the husband has to pay a flat amount or monthly allowance as determined by the court. 

As per law, a woman can also claim Streedhan, i.e. the gifts, jewelry, bonds, and other assets given during the wedding.
