Rain Puja  

The ruling AIADMK government has decided to turn to the Gods by organising pujas and yagnas on June 22 in all the major temples across Tamil Nadu. While deputy Speaker Thambidurai and former MP Jayavardhan were seen in the puja organised in Kurungaleeshwar Temple in Koyambedu, minister SP Velumani was present in Porur's Patteeshwar Temple.
 

Bengaluru priests have sent tongues wagging after a picture of them went viral in which they can be seen performing a ritual while holding their phones. Netizens are having a field day looking at these pictures and commenting witty captions.

A group of rationalists demanded that the government should implement an anti-superstition law and stop promoting as well as encouraging superstitious practices like conducting a special puja for rains.

Karnataka government under the leadership of Siddaramaiah had passed the anti-superstition bill. But ironically now, the Kumaraswamy-led Karnataka government has given special instructions to conduct special pooja in more than 30,000 temples spending Rs 10,000 for each temple to appease the rain gods!
