The 'Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens (Amendment) Bill-2019' was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 11th December. According to the bill, six months imprisonment or fine of 10,000 rs or both will be sentenced to those who intentionally abuse their parents or senior citizens under their care and protection or abandon them. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot introduced the bill in the House. In this, registration has been made mandatory for old age homes and all similar institutions.
