The 20 Bangladeshi nationals including a female have been deported through legal procedures from the International border at Sutarkandi in Karimganj district.

The Rohingyas were apprehended at Churaibari along the Assam-Tripura border. According to the Assam Police, the girls came from Tripura and the middleman was helping them enter the state.

Re-polling to the five constituencies - four in Karimganj and one in Autonomous district will be held on April 24, an election office spokesperson confirmed on Monday

The immigrants who were deported included 19 men and 2 women. They were deported from the international border at Sutarkandi in the Karimganj district after following proper legal procedures.

The voter ID cards recovered are in the names of  Haoyarun Nessa and Nenai Bibi of Gamariya village under Ramkrishnanagar police station in Assam’s Karimganj district.

The incident took place at Lakhipur Border Out Post in the Barak valley along the Indo-Bangladesh border
