Today (May 3) is World Press Freedom Day. On this occasion, Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar extended greetings to the media fraternity
 

President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Arvind Sawant and has now handed over the heavy industries portfolio to Union minister Prakash Javadekar. Javadekar is already in charge of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Union minister of information and broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said that he has sought report from officials concerned on what is being shown on the Bigg Boss show

The 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held at Goa from November 20-28, 2019.  Union Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar said 200 films from around 76 countries and 26 feature and 15 non-feature films in the Indian panorama section will be screened during the upcoming IFFI

"No Indian film will be screened in any Pakistani theatre. Drama, films and Indian content of this kind will be completely banned in Pakistan," Firdous Ashiq Awan, special advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan for Information and Broadcasting, tweeted.

Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar stated that more effective steps need to be taken to deal with obscenity and vulgarity in advertisements in India.

Union minister Prakash Javadekar said that effective steps need to be taken in ensuring that advertisements in India are not “obscene”.

The ministry of information and broadcasting has advised private satellite television channels not to represent children in inappropriate manner in dance reality shows

If they want to give titles in English also, apart from regional languages, they are free to do so, said Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar

BJP's Rajyavardhan Rathore former Olympian and current union minister for state information and broadcasting will be contesting against Krishna Poonia former Olympic athlete and current Congress MLA from Sadulpur constituency for the Jaipur rural constituency.

The ministry of information and broadcasting said, 'Whereas Tiranga TV news channel has shown the said media briefing (of Pakistan Army) for a duration of 20 minutes and 45 seconds and during which there was no intervention from the channel on the correctness or otherwise of the claims being made in the said media briefing in order to ensure that there is no violation of the aforementioned Rules'

The Cabinet last week had approved the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's proposal for introducing the bill.
