Coronavirus Death  

A 69-year-old who returned from the UAE on March 22, who had been kept in isolation, passed away in Kochi, making him first person in Kerala to die of the virus. 

 Though India participated enthusiastically and energetically in the Janata curfew on March 22, there are many under the impression that it is enough to contain the spread of the virus. But it is not so. We need to guard ourselves with more gusto as the virus can still spread rapidly.

Amid growing cases of deadly coronavirus, BJP MP Sambhaji Chhatrapati distributed hand sanitizers in the Parliament premises on March 13.

Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports on Thursday brushed aside the threat of coronavirus and said India would participate in 2020 Tokyo Olympics in full flow. "Virus China mein hai, Tokyo mein Nahi (the virus is in China not Tokyo)," Rijiju said in response to questions about the Games on the sidelines of a workshop to sensitize Indian athletes about Japanese etiquette and culture. Rijiju said the current situation demands that nations come together to fight the crisis. "We have to fight every situation together. I expect Tokyo Olympics to start July 24 on time and go ahead smoothly," he said.

The death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in China soared to 106 on Tuesday with 1,771 new cases confirmed, authorities said, as the infection that emerged in the central province of Hubei late last year continued to spread.

In China, as many as 80 people lost their lives with 2,744 confirmed cases of the disease reported from the country on Monday. With this deadly coronavirus outbreak, the Goa government has decided to form a special task force to monitor such cases in the tourist state
