India's ace squash player Dipika Pallikal has won bronze in the women's singles squash event in the ongoing Asian Games 2018. 

India's Joshana Chinappa who was up against Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam in the women's singles semifinals, assured India of another bronze.

Sourav Ghosal won a bronze medal after losing in the men's singles squash competition.

India's Tajinderpal Singh Toor in his fifth attempt threw 20.75m, a new games record, and won India's first gold in athletics in Asian Games.

Tajinderpal won a gold in shot put with the throw.

India's women's team has defeated Korea 4-1 in hockey. On the other hand, Hima Das has qualified for the final of 400m along with Nirmala Sheoran.

Sprinter Dutee Chand has qualified for the semis of women’s 100m heat.

It was not a good day for the shooters as  Anish Bhanwala and Shivam Shukla failed to qualify for the men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol final, finishing 9th and 11th respectively. 

India are placed ninth in the medal tally with a total of 28 medals. India now has 6 gold, 5 silver and 17 bronze medals. 


India lost in the archery tournament, with both men's and women's team losing in their categories. The Indian contingent was unable to notch a medal even in the singles category.
