Hyderabad: Secunderabad MP and BJP leader, G Kishan Reddy is expected to get a berth in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet.  The portfolio is likely to be Union minister of state with independent charge.

Sources in the BJP said that keeping in view the seniority, the party’s top leadership is said to have decided to include Kishan Reddy in the Union ministry.

Kishan has been a three-time MLA and has also served as the party’s president for the combined state of Andhra Pradesh.

The state of Telangana saw the first-ever victory of four Lok Sabha seat. Now, leaders in Telangana are relying on the BJP high command to give representation to the state unit in the Prime Minister’s Cabinet.

Kishan Reddy has left for Delhi along with his family members to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.

MyNation spoke to Kishan Reddy who said, “The decision is left to Prime Minister and Amit Shah. I have no idea about it. Maybe by evening, everything will be clear.”

Kishan Reddy maintained that he is yet to get confirmation that he would be given portfolio, so commenting on what will be entrusted upon him is not possible.

MyNation also sought clarification from Shubhash Natcharaju, spokesperson of the BJP in Telangana, who said, “Our seniors are asking for portfolios because we have won four parliamentary seats. But it is PM’s prerogative about what should be given.” Natcharaju also added that the portfolio they are expecting cannot be revealed as of now.

“After Prime Minister’s swearing-in, there will be clarity on what will be given. Until then there are a lot of rumours going around, that’s all,” stated Natcharaju.

However, it is expected that Kishan Reddy would be given the same portfolio that Bandaru Dattatreya was given.

Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, had been denied a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls from his Secunderabad constituency. He has held various posts and responsibilities, including that of MP, Union Minister, party's national vice-president and national secretary.

Kishan Reddy contested from Secunderabad constituency for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and emerged victorious.

Dattatreya earlier held the portfolio, Union minister of state with independent charge. Since Kishan Reddy replaced Dattatreya, it is expected that he would be given the same portfolio.
