While superstar Rajinikanth may be seen as one filling the void that Jayalalithaa’s death created, let’s not forget there is an ousted leader of AIADMK in the political horizon of the Tamil Nadu - TTV Dhinakaran.

It’s Dhinakaran’s birthday today and he has received one of the most unexpected gifts. His party AMMK’s key leader and organising secretary Senthil Balaji is jumping ship, thanks to the rising sun at the horizon too - DMK.

While numerous call to Balaji has been left unanswered, sources in the DMK have confirmed this claiming that Balaji will be officially inducted into the party in the presence of Stalin either today or Sunday.

While Balaji joined AIADMK in 2000 and won the union councillor seat, he had always been the face of Karur Assembly segment since 2006. He was dropped from the Cabinet in 2015 and was given the Arvakkuruchi Assembly segment in 2016, which he won again.

But, he is among the 18 disqualified MLAs now, who refused to render his support to Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami.

DMK lacks a strong face in Karur after the death of Vasuki Murugesan. And Karur is the hot bed of the Gounder community, which is an AIADMK bastion. Several cadres of AMMK have shifted base to AIADMK in the presence of Tamil Nadu minister Vijayabhasker.

DMK recently hoisted a giant-sized flag at the party headquarters in Chennai. Is the sun rising high for the DMK while the sun sets in TTV Dhinakaran’s camp?
