Bengaluru: In spite of his hectic schedule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took time off to spend a few minutes at Hunar Haat, an exhibition organised at India Gate to showcase indigenous Indian arts and handicrafts. 

 

The PM also had tasty Litti Chokha for lunch along with a cup of hot tea. 

 

As reported by India Today, the exhibition has been organised in a bid to provide international recognition to country's traditional legacy of arts and crafts. The exhibition has been organised by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs.

It’s a ten-day event. Artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts, including 50% of women from almost all the states and union territories participating in it.

In what comes as really massive, over 250 stalls have been set up for them so that they can demonstrate their indigenous exquisite handmade products. The event is a centre of attraction for visitors who come to see iconic India Gate.

Before the PM visited the exhibition, Piyush Goyal who happens to be the Union Commerce and Industry minister, Rajya Sabha MP and ICCR president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, and minister of civil aviation Hardeep Singh Puri are a few dignitaries who have paid a visit to the exhibition. 

The website also added that three lakh artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts have been provided employment and employment opportunities through it in the last three years.
