Salman Khan's father Salim Khan once spoke about the relationship between his son and Aishwarya Rai
In the '90s, Salman Khan had a list of controversies under his name - from Salman Khan indulging in black magic to him beating his girlfriends, etc.
However, his father Salim Khan has always tried to protect his son Salman from such allegations and addressed these negative topics with media.
In an interview with CineBlitz magazine, Salim Khan had talked about Salman Khan and his controversial life. Salim was asked about Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan's affair, and he said, "Leave them alone! They're grown-ups. If their relationship has strength, nothing in the world can stop it. If you kill them, they will become immortal lovers."
Salim also talked about Salman's ex Sangeeta Bijlani. Both were madly in love with each other and were planning to get married too. She was the first woman he ever wanted to settle down with. But, things didn’t go as planned for them and they drifted apart. According to Salman’s biography, Being Salman, penned by Jasim Khan, the two had finalised their wedding dates and the cards were also printed. Salman and Sangeeta were planning to tie a knot on May 27, 1994. But Sangeeta caught him cheating with model Somi Ali. Salman himself had narrated this incident on the chat show Koffee with Karan.
In the same interview Salim had said, "If their love is not strong enough, they will fall apart. Salman's relationship with Sangeeta broke up even though it continued for seven long years. His relationship with Somi too didn't last."
He also spoke about the news regarding Salman hitting Aishwarya Rai, "People don't realise that Aishwarya Rai has been Miss World and that she is an educated girl with a mind of her own. Aishwarya is not with Salman Khan out of any compulsion. She is going around with him because they like each other. Would such a person put up with bashing?"
Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai reportedly started dating officially in 1999 and ended things in 2001. As per reports, the Salman-Aishwarya love story began in 1997 during the shooting of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Reports also suggested that the duo was serious and marriage was on the cards.
