Violence In Bengal  

Quoting the reports received, MHA said the number of incidents of political violence in West Bengal increased from 509 in 2016 to 1035 in 2018. 773 incidents have already occurred in 2019 till date

This election season and the aftermath in Bengal has been dotted by incidents of violence where both the BJP and the TMC have pointed fingers at each other for the murder of their cadre

The Centre on Sunday had also expressed concern over the "unabated violence" in Bengal. Several party workers from both the BJP and TMC have been allegedly murdered over flaring political tensions

 BJP national secretary Rahul Sinha stated, “This order shows how bad the law and order situation in Bengal is and how the government has failed to do its duty"

MHA, after taking into consideration the sensitivity of Jungle Mahal area (LWE affected) and previous incidents during elections, has deployed 602 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF, BSF, CISF, SSB, ITBP, RPF, RAF) and 111 Companies of State Armed Police for election duties.
