India opener Shafali Verma achieved another high on Wednesday (March 4) after she grabbed the top spot in the T20 International Rankings for women in the latest list released by the International Cricket Council. 16-year-old Shafali is the youngest Indian ever - in men's and women's cricket - to be ranked No. 1 in any ICC Player Rankings table. She jumped 19 places and surpassed former New Zealand captain Suzie Bates to grab the top spot with 761 points. Watch this video to find out more.

India's 16-year-old sensation Shafali Verma now has the highest strike-rate in Women's T20Is. The opening batter has scored 438 runs in the shortest format of the game at a strike-rate of 147.97 and has surpassed South Africa's Chloe Tryon and Australia's Alyssa Healy. The official handle of the T20 World Cup posted the stat on Twitter and captioned the post as: "Highest career strike rates in women's T20Is (min. 200 runs)--Shafali Verma - 438 runs at 147.97, Chloe Tryon - 722 runs at 138.31, Alyssa Healy - 1,875 runs at 129.66, the 16-year-old is top of the tree". India entered the semifinals of the women's T20 World Cup after Shafali Verma's 34-ball 46 followed by a superlative performance from the bowlers helped the team notch up a narrow four-run win over New Zealand in Melbourne on Thursday.

At the Providence Stadium in Guyana, India won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost Shafali Verma (9) and captain Smriti Mandhana (7) cheaply inside the opening four overs

With this victory, India took an unassailable 3-0 lead. Chasing a small target of 60 runs, India had a poor start as both of their openers, Shafali Verma (0) and Smriti Mandhana (3), were sent back to the pavilion within three overs. However, Jemimah Rodrigues starred with the bat to steer the team home

Shafali Verma played a knock of 69 runs off 35 balls with 10 fours and two sixes while Smriti Mandhana scored 30 runs off 28 deliveries with four fours to hand India a massive win with 57 balls to spare

The 15-year-old Shafali struck a half century as India won the contest against West Indies by 84 runs. During her 49-ball 73, Shafali Verma became the youngest Indian to score a half century in an international game

The opening duo of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana shared a record 143-run stand. India posted 185/4 in their stipulated 20 overs at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium
