The list of the National Registration of Citizens (NRC) is out and over 3 crore people have featured in it. While over 19 lakh people have been left out. The government has directed people to appeal to the Foreigners’ Tribunal

The Foreigners’ Tribunal had served notice to Sanaullah on September 4 last year and declared him a foreigner last Tuesday. According to the reports, a case was registered in the Foreigners’ Tribunal, Kamrup, in 2008.

Despite being declared foreigners by the Supreme Court, the names of 47 year old Joynal Abedin and his family have been added in the electoral rolls published by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in January.

The National Register of Citizens (NRC) has been updated in Assam to identify illegal immigrants, yet it has come to light that a large number of names belonging to illegal foreigners has been allegedly added in the electoral rolls of the state. Various organisations of the state have alleged that the names of a large number of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the state are present in the electoral rolls.
