New Delhi: Keeping in mind the ICC World Cup 2019, India captain Virat Kohli and other top players are likely to be rested from limited overs matches.

With a hectic schedule for the Indian team, Kohli was rested from the Asia Cup recently and Rohit Sharma was made the captain. Now, it has emerged that Kohli is set to be rested again along with Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The bowling duo is not part of the ongoing Test series against the West Indies.

India want to manage the workload of the players with the World Cup in England less than a year to go and also a tough tour to Australia coming up next month.

"Virat is likely to be rested again if the need arises to ensure he's fit enough for the World Cup 2019. This rotation policy has been initiated by the time to keep the best combination for the World Cup, due in June," The Times of India quoted a BCCI source as saying.

India are currently involved in a two-Test series against the West Indies at home. They won the first match in Rajkot and the second game starts in Hyderabad on Friday.

After the Tests, the teams will clash in five ODIs and three T20Is. Kohli and others might skip the limited overs matches.
