New Delhi: Four Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter by the security forces in Lassipora region of Pulwama in wee hours of Monday. During the operation three security men also sustained injuries.

A joint team of 44 Rashtriya Rifles of the army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a cordon and search operation after receiving credible inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. The hiding terrorists fired at the security personnel during the search operation, which triggered an encounter.

“Four terrorists have been eliminated in Pulwama operation," Srinagar-based defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said.

The terrorists are yet to be identified but are believed to be associated with Pakistan based LeT.

Forces also recovered two AK rifles, an SLR and a pistol from the encounter site.

The search operation was still underway.
