New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday exposed its desperation again just days ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when chief Rahul Gandhi and a host of other leaders could not digest the success of Mission Shakti that has put India in the super elite club of space powers. This power is now enjoyed by only four nations.

The Congress president wished the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the feat, but could not resist taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the same breath and the same tweet.

“Well done DRDO, extremely proud of your work. I would also like to wish the PM a very happy World Theatre Day,” Gandhi tweeted.

The official Twitter handle of his party followed suit, reminding that ISRO was established by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. One could ask why the institution could achieve this feat only under an NDA regime.

“We congratulate @isro & the Govt on the latest achievement for India. The Indian Space Programme established in 1962 by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru & the Indian Space Research organisation has always made India proud with its ground breaking achievements,” Congress tweeted.

Meanwhile, BJP chief Amit Shah underlined the decisive leadership of PM Modi.

In another tweet he congratulated the scientists involved with Mission Shakti and thanked PM Modi for “ensuring that India continues to safeguard the interest of its people and secures them on all fronts.”

Union minister Smriti Irani called the achievement “a defining moment for our nation”.
