Andhra Pradesh: The state of Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for the Lok Sabha election scheduled for April 11. Interestingly, fathers who have had a history in the state have now paved the way for their sons, and few father-son duos are also contesting.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh are contesting the election. This will be Nara Lokesh’s electoral debut.

Deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, KE Krishnamurthy has also decided not to contest from his Pathikonda seat. His son KE Shyam Babu has decided to contest from the same constituency.

Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy has made way for his son JC Pavan Reddy for the same constituency.

Diwakar Reddy had expressed his disinterest in politics after the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh, thus paving the way for his son.

Diwakar Reddy’s brother JC Prabhakar Reddy has also followed in his brother’s footsteps and has paved the way for his son JC Amith Reddy in the Tadipatri Assembly constituency.

It’s not just the fathers, who have decided to make way for their sons, mothers too have decided to step aside for their sons.

Women and child welfare minister Paritala Sunitha has made way for her son. The family bastion of Raptadu constituency was allotted to her son Paritala Sriram.

Another mother who has made way for her son is Kimidi Mrunalini, the TDP MLA from Cheepurapalle. Her son Nagarajuna will contest this time.

Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy of the Srikalahasti constituency quit active politics on health grounds. His son Bojjala Sudheer Reddy has taken over.

Kurnool assembly seat which used to see Rajya Sabha MP TG Venkatesh now sees his son TG Bharath.

Speaking about reports of Chandrababu’s dynastic politics, Kuppam election in-charge KP Munirathna, who is also his classmate said, “Chandrababu Naidu wants the young generation of politicians grow. This is not dynastic politics. Sons and daughters of politicians are chosen on the basis of winnability as well.”

However YSRCP leader of Kuppam, Bharath Krishna also stated that Chandrababu Naidu is known for such tactics.

“Chandrababu Naidu has been doing this for years now, even during the time of NTR. This time is no different,” added Bharath Krishna.

It’s not just the sons who are in the fray this election season, daughters too who have found their place under the sun this election.

Aditi, the daughter of former Union Civil Aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, has been fielded from the Vizianagaram Assembly seat.

Yerran Naidu’s daughter Bhavani has been fielded from Rajahmundry city.

It was this obvious allocation of seats for all sons and daughters that made Prime Minister Narendra Modi call for a son-set in Andhra Pradesh, alleging that Naidu was interested only in promoting his son Lokesh.
