Kannur: The Kannur Police on Thursday arrested two more persons in connection with the Parassinikkadavu gang-rape case. So far, the police have arrested seven for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a lodge.

It was reported that more than 20 persons had raped the minor at a Parassinikkadavu lodge in Kannur. According to the victim’s statement to the police, the girl’s father was the one who first raped her two years ago for 16 times.

Five people were arrested in connection with the case. Two more people were arrested on Thursday.

The Kannur women police have arrested a man for sexually abusing the victim’s friend, who was studying in the same school.

DySP KV Venugopal-led team is investigating the case. The police have been able to get more information during their probe after tracking mobile phone records.

A local DYFI leader is also involved in the case, according to the police. The DYFI had staged a march to the lodge where the victim was sexually abused and now the organisation is facing a severe backlash.

A special team is also likely to be appointed for the investigation as reports about more victims are coming out. Cases have been registered in Pazhayangadi and Kudiyanmala police stations in connection with the gang rape. Six cases have been registered in Valappattanam.

The police have booked all the accused under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Earlier, the police team led by Venugopal took the lodge owner Pavithran, Mattool native Sandeep, Sreekantapuram natives Shamsuddhin, Shabeer and Naduvil native Ayub into custody.

Jithin, 30, and the 25-year-old Vysakh were arrested on Thursday. According to reports, the victim's friend was in love with a boy named Adarsh, a native of Kolcherry. They got into relationship through Instagram. The girl alleged that she was raped several times by Adarsh in Kannur.
