Srinagar: The Pakistan Army on Thursday resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing targeting India Army posts in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch sector along the Line of Control (LoC).

"Pakistan Army on Thursday resorted to firing of small arms, automatics and mortars, targeting India Army posts", said senior Army official.

The Indian Army also retaliated strongly and effectively. No major loss to Indian side was reported.

The firing from the Pakistan side came days after it targeted two major Army installations in the Poonch sector.

On October 23, Pakistan Army targeted two security installations of Indian Army in Poonch sector including the headquarters of 93 Brigade. This installation of Indian Army is 6 km inside the LoC. The other important security installation, which was targeted by the Pakistan Army with mortars and artillery was 17 km inside the LoC.

This provocation from Pakistan side can also be seen as a new strategy of the Pakistan Army to divert the attention of the Indian Army from LoC so that the former can facilitate terror infiltration.

A few days back, the Indian Army had gunned down two Pakistan Army-backed intruders in Sunderbani sector.
