Telangana: Sunil Edla, a 61-year-old man, was murdered on Saturday outside his residence by a 16-year-old boy in Ventnor City in New Jersey around 8 PM (Indian time) on November 15. The minor shot Edla, who was on his way to work and then took off with the latter’s car.

Edla had migrated to the US in 1987 and was working as a night auditor in the hospital industry. He had made arrangements to visit his native, in the district of Medak, Telangana. According to his relatives the victim was planning to come home for Christmas and to celebrate his mother’s 95th birthday. He was an active member of the church and was well-known for playing the piano at churches in Atlanta City. 

The minor has been arrested under the charges murder, robbery, car hijacking and unlawful possession of a handgun. The incident took place when Edla was leaving for work.   

Earlier this year, Sharat Koppu, a student from Telangana was shot dead in Kansas City, Missouri, during a robbery attempt in a restaurant. The deceased was a native from Warangal and had moved to the US to pursue higher studies. The accused was shot down by police during an encounter at Kansas City.
