New Delhi: The main accused in the illegal mining scam worth crores rupees  in Uttar Pradesh, an IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh cadre B, Chandrakala has been posting poem s on LinkedIn.  Officially, however, she has been untraceable since the day the CBI carried out a search operation at her place last month in Lucknow. Two days ago, she posted her new poem in her profile.

Apart from the CBI raid, the ED had summoned her to the agency's Lucknow office last month for interrogation about her assets that multiplied in a few years after she joioned the civil service. She did not appear before the ED either.

The 2004 IAS batch officer Chadarakala had not participated in the annual meet of state bureaucrats in Lucknow last week, which was organised by the UP IAS Association. Her absence has led to all kinds of gossips and speculations in Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy, polity and media.

Nobody is aware of her whereabouts. The CBI got the task of probing the illegal mining scam of Uttar Pradesh following an FIR against Chandrakala and her 11 'accomplices'  as per the directive of the Allahabad high court in 2016. Chandrakala was the district magistrate of Hamirpur during 2012-14 when she allegedly violated the  e-tender system of allotting mining contracts in her district, the FIR said.

Reliable sources from state bureaucracy told MyNation that Chandrakala is now the talk of the state.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, meanwhile, has warned the IAS officers that they would not be able to function arbitrarily as they did under the Samajwadi Party regime. He said bureaucrats should have left their awful work culture with the passing of the Akhilesh Yadav government.

Yogi has reportedly told the babus that the corrupt will definitely be punished by the government. However,  Yogi has not suspended or issued any show-cause notice to Chandrakala.

The state government appointment department has no further information about Chandrakala except her leave. But she is quite active on social media, making her presence felt with her poems. Recently, she posted a poem on LinkedIn and indirectly criticised the CBI action on her.

Chandrakala was posted as district magistrate in three districts Hamirpur, Mathura, and Bulandshahr during the  Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh when the illegal mining scam unfolded.
