New Delhi: At least two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists were killed and two are trapped in an ongoing encounter with the security forces in Memander area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The encounter started during the wee hours which is being carried out by a joint team of army, CRPF, Special Operations Group.

The development comes just a day after the IAF avenged the deaths of 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama terror attack by carrying out air strike in terror facility in Balakot in Pakistan. The ‘non-military pre-emptive air strike’ was done on three camps of the terrorist organisation, killing nearly 300 militants.

On Wednesday at around 4:20 am, security forces launched a cordon and search operation after getting specific information about the presence of militants in Memander area.

As per latest reports, two terrorists have been gunned down by security forces and around three terrorists are believed to be trapped in a residential area.

Officials said the search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists opened fire at the security forces. There are no reports of any casualties so far in the operation.
