New Delhi: A terrorist was gunned down by security forces in an ongoing encounter in Handwara area of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning.

The search operation is still underway in Handwara and it is believed that one more terrorist is trapped in this area of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces are yet to reveal his details but claim that arms and ammunition were recovered from the site after a brief encounter.

Meanwhile, internet services have been snapped in the area. A cordon and search operation (CASO) had been launched at Banderpayee, Handwara, north Kashmir on a specific tip-off about the presence of militants.

Earlier, three CRPF jawans, two Jammu and Kashmir police personnel and a civilian were killed in an encounter in the Babagund village of Langate, Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. Two terrorists were killed in the gun battle too.
