Pop star Katy Perry on Wednesday announced she is all set to perform in the city on November 16 as part of the OnePlus Music Festival. Perry took to Twitter to share the news of her first performance in Mumbai.
"I am so happy to be returning to India and excited to headline my first-ever performance in Mumbai. I am looking forward to seeing and singing with all of my Indian KatyCats at the OnePlus Music Festival," she tweeted.

The singer will perform at the DY Patil Stadium. The festival, described as the merger between "the energy of music and the power of technology to bring out an immersive experience", is curated and designed by smartphone maker OnePlus. This is not her first visit to the country.

The Roar hitmaker performed at the opening ceremony of Indian Premier League in 2012 in Chennai. Katy Perry married actor-comic Russell Brand in 2010 in a famous Indian ceremony in Rajasthan. They got divorced after two years.

Known for its experimental, out-of-the-box community-focused activities, OnePlus looks to reach into the music world with this festival creating a niche space for community and music enthusiasts to come together on a different platform to see their favourite acts and discover new music.

"We are super excited that Katy Perry will be starring in our first-ever OnePlus Music Festival in India! We decided to host this festival to share our passion for music with our community, who are at the heart of everything we do. With Katy on board, this is sure to be a one of a kind experience,” said Carl Pei, Co-founder, OnePlus.

Speaking on the event, Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director & CEO, Universal Music Group, India & South Asia added, “Katy is a not only a massive global pop superstar who has a big India fan base but is someone who’s been relevant for some time now starting with ‘Teenage Dream’ to ‘Prism’ and ‘Witness’, and now her newest singles ‘Never Really Over’ and ‘Small Talk’. Her songs have been a legend for her Indian fans and they can’t wait to see her perform in Mumbai. The buzz is palpable as we count-down to 16th November and the first-ever OnePlus Music Festival which is now bound to be a date to mark on the annual calendar as a day of music and celebration.”
