Leeds: India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is yet to play a game at the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019, has lashed out at former cricketer-turned Sanjay Manjrekar on Thursday (July 3).

Jadeja took to the micro-blogging site Twitter to lambast Manjrekar for his views during his commentary stint at the World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. Manjrekar is part of the host broadcaster Star Sports.

The 30-year-old Jadeja did not reveal as to why he was hitting out at Manjrekar. However, it could be at the comment from the former Mumbai batsman for calling Jadeja “bits and pieces” cricketer.

“I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner," Manjrekar had said.

Jadeja responded like this, “Still i have played twice the number of matches you have played and i m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved.i have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea. @sanjaymanjrekar (sic),” Jadeja tweeted to his 2.3 million plus followers.

This message was retweeted more than 35,000 times and liked by over 1,45,000 Twitters users till Friday morning (July 4).

So far, Jadeja has played 41 Tests, 151 ODIs and 40 T20Is while Manjrekar, between 1987 and 1996, featured in 37 Tests and 74 ODIs for India.

The 53-year-old Manjrekar has not only criticised Jadeja but had also questioned MS Dhoni’s batting, like others.

“Here’s something interesting about  Dhoni -. 41 off 87 balls v spin this WC. But in the warm up games 69 off 56 balls v spin. That tells me it’s mental too. He does  not put his wicket on the line as much in the big games.#ICCCWC2019 (sic),” he had tweeted.

He had also spoken about 'Dhoni conundrum' going into the semi-finals. "Even after today’s win a few issues that need to be addressed for India to become a fool proof team. Rahul still not convincing as opener, Shami as death bowler is a concern now & the Dhoni conundrum#teamIndia (sic)," he tweeted on July 2.

The Virat Kohli-led Indian team made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019 after beating Bangladesh. Now, they wrap up the league phase on Saturday (July 6) with a game against Sri Lanka.
